Watching England secure victory after
lunch on the final day of the opening
Investec AshesTest atTrent Bridge was a
memorable moment for everyone involved
with the Club.
On top of providing a platform for England
to go on to win the Ashes, it was a fitting
end to years of sustained investment in our
venue, months of planning and five days
of meticulous work from our staff played
out in front of a capacity crowd of our
members and supporters.
I have read every letter, email and
survey sent my way since theTest Match
and although a few highlighted some
operational areas for improvement,
the recurring themes of friendliness,
unobtrusive stewarding, a welcoming
atmosphere and a sense of pride in staging
the match atTrent Bridge shone through.
Days like the five we enjoyed live long in
the memory and we will continue to work
towards securing the long-term future of
Trent Bridge as aTest Match venue.
The list of people and organisations
that we need to thank is considerable
but the support we continue to receive
from Nottinghamshire County Council,
Nottingham City Council, Rushcliffe
Borough Council and Experience
Nottinghamshire is truly invaluable.
We are also grateful to the media
organisations who helped us to project
Welcome
the image ofTrent Bridge to a global
audience and our commercial partners
who support our efforts on the field and
in the community. I would also like to add
a special thank you to all the volunteers
who gave their time freely to support our
efforts and bring to life our Ashes legacy
programme.
In the weeks after our AshesTest, the
attendances at our Friends Life t20
matches further demonstrated the strength
of support we enjoy here. Our crowds were
the biggest outside of London and we also
staged the year’s best attended quarter-
final.
I hope you enjoy this special edition of
Covered which reflects on those five days
in July when the sun shone, England and
Australia played out an enthralling contest
ending in the most dramatic fashion and
you turned out in force to saviour the
occasion.
Your ongoing support of our major
matches is vital to our prosperity and I
hope you will all be eagerly anticipating
our two fixtures against India next year.
