It’s not only something they’ve said to us, but also shown us.” The move reflects the women’s game being afforded increased equity. The T20 and One Day Cup formats will mirror the set-up of the men’s tournaments, with the competitions running side by side and operating under the same names. £8m of new funding will also be made available for the women’s domestic game each year across the next three years. “I’m really excited for the future and what it holds, the women’s game is in a really great place,” Bryce gleams. “WithThe Hundred bringing in the new audiences and an increase in the number of people wanting to take up the game, it’s a really brilliant time to be a part of all the change.” Bryce is staking a claim to be one of the poster girls of that change, as she spearheads the current crop of professional players and paves the way for the next generation. And with the coveted PCA Player of theYear award now under her belt – the shortlist for which is compiled by votes from within the game – Bryce’s glittering season received the most sought-after seal of approval: the recognition and appreciation of her fellow players.
