COVERED 28 TRENTBRIDGE.CO.UK “I don’t understand people who say they don’t enjoy fielding.” It’s not the first time that Lucy Higham has mentioned her love for that oft-forgot- ten discipline during our conversation on a miserable January morning. “How can you not enjoy yourself running around a field for three hours?” You can certainly see the appeal in the current situation. As we sit down to talk, we’re two months on from Higham landing one of 41 full- time professional contracts handed out in the women’s game. With it comes the opportunity to continue training at Loughborough’s Centre of Excellence alongside her studies for a Masters degree. You get the sense that Higham welcomes the ability to keep moving, her love for all things sport evident in her education. “I’ve really pushed the boat out,” she jokes. “I DON’T UNDERSTAND PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY DON’T ENJOY FIELDING.
