The London games felt like a watershed moment for disability sport – and Redfern believes their impact is still being felt to this day. “I went to the Paralympics in 2012, and I was truly amazed and inspired,” he says. “We all sit down to watch the Paralympics and the Invictus games, and don’t sit there thinking about people’s disabilities – we watch it because we want to see people performing at the highest level. “It’s the same at Super 1s – it sounds cheesy, but you see the young people who turn up for their abilities, rather than their disabilities.” Super 1s Hubs There are currently three Super 1s hubs offering weekly activities in Nottinghamshire for those between 12 and 25 years of age: Keyworth Leisure Centre: Mondays, 5.30-6.30pm.
