the England squad for their tour
of theWest Indies and could also
feature at the ICCWorldTwenty20

“There’s a decent chance that I’ll
be the man to come in if they need
a replacement in Bangladesh and
I’d like to think that this is reward
for three consistent years with the
white ball and some progress in
four day cricket,” said Gurney, who
took 74 wickets in all formats for
Nottinghamshire last season.
“I’m looking forward to joining up in
the squad and throwing my hat in the
ring for a potential England debut.”
Gurney trained with England ahead
of the 2013-14 Ashes tour having
been asked to help prepare the
batsmen to face left-arm quicks.
“Training with England gave me a
really good taste of the environment
and gave the coaches and senior
players an opportunity to have a look
at me which I hope was a factor in
this selection,” said Gurney.
“This is a great opportunity for Harry
at a time when England are crying
out for a left-arm quick bowler,”
added Mick Newell, Nottinghmshire’s
Director of Cricket.
“He’s in prime position to push
his case for selection and training
regularly with England will allow him
to show the skills that have made him
our first pick.”
