Victory in theYorkshire Bank 40 Final
capped a remarkable year for our Club
both on and off the field.
Watching Chris Read hold the trophy
aloft at Lord’s will live long in the memory
and he deserves tremendous praise for his
performance on the day and the manner
in which he has led the team during his
tenure as captain.
Chris has now stepped away from the
limited-overs captaincy allowing James
Taylor to take on a new leadership role that
will also see him serve as understudy in the
LV= County Championship.
James discusses his thoughts on the role in
this edition of Covered and I’m sure you’ll
join me in wishing him every success.
Our AshesTest seems like a distant
memory now and attention has turned
to the visit of India for two fixtures next
summer.Your support in buying tickets for
the match has been exceptional and sends
a strong message to the ECB about the
passion that exists forTest cricket in the
East Midlands.
With no headline building project this
winter, we have resolved to address lots of
the little things that you have told us matter
the most.We plan to invest in facility
upgrades with a view to maintaining our
standing as the top ranked cricket ground
for spectator experience in England &
Wales, an honour recently bestowed upon
us for the fifth successive season.
Our community team have also had reason
to celebrate after securing the coveted
Best Community Scheme prize at the
Nottingham Post Sports Awards for the
Ashes Legacy Partnership delivered in
tandem with Durham and the MCC.
Being able to reflect on plaudits for our
team, our venue and our community
projects at the same time should be a
source of pride for us all but we mindful
that we need to continue to develop on
all fronts if we are to retain our seat at the
top table.
