Notts News In Brief
Nottinghamshire all-rounder
Samit Patel
has
signed a new three-year contract atTrent Bridge.
Patel returned 14 first class wickets and 329
first class runs for Nottinghamshire in 2012
and was a key member of the Notts Outlaws
Friends Life t20 side that secured a home
quarter-final. Patel eclipsed his LV= County
Championship run tally in the Clydesdale
Bank 40 in which he scored 340 runs and
took 15 wickets.
“I think that we have enough talent and depth
in our squad to win trophies consistently and
I want to play my part in that,” said Samit, 28.
“This is the only county that I want to play for
and I am pleased to have had the opportunity
to commit for another three seasons.”
Steven Mullaney
has also committed until the
end of the 2015 season whilst
Graeme White
has agreed a new two-year deal.
Mullaney appeared in six LV= County
Championship matches in 2012 and amassed
391 runs to finish second to Chris Read in the
Nottinghamshire batting averages.
Four half-centuries, including a high-score
of 94, belied his selection trouble early on in
the season.
“Steven did very well when he came into the
four-day team and his average is testament
to that,” said Nottinghamshire Director of
Cricket Mick Newell.
“He has always been a key part of our limited-
overs plans but there is every chance that he
could firmly establish himself in all formats
for years to come if he can bat consistently in
the championship.”
Jake Ball signed a one-year extension with Neil
Edwards, Scott Elstone, Darren Pattinson and
Karl Turner released at the end of their deals.
