Chief Executive’s Foreword
weLcoMe
This is the first opportunity that I have had to
write to our members following the outcome
of the ‘Whole Game’ process and I would like
to thank you for so many messages of support
both before and after the decision of the ECB
Management Board on 22September. I think that
everyone was aware of the pivotal importance of
the outcome and elsewhere in Covered we have
explained the process in more detail.
I am very conscious that some of our members
have expressed an interest in seeing the videos
we produced as part of our presentation to the
ECB last August. We intend to share these
with attendees at our AGM next February.
At the AGM Peter Wright, Mick Newell, Ray
Dawson and I all deliver presentations and it
would be good to see as many of our members
as possible at the meeting.
Away from ‘Whole Game’ the Club has
received significant third party recognition
in recent weeks. At the ECB Business of
Cricket Awards, Nottinghamshire was voted
the top County Club for Community work for
the second successive year. We also received
awards for Best PR & Media Team and the
prestigious Commercial Team of theYear. In
addition, Rushcliffe Borough Council gave us
the coveted Business of theYear award and
Steve Birks was named One Day Groundsman
of theYear.
Awards on their own, of course, mean little.
Yet the extent of third party endorsement
shows, I believe, that we have real momentum
within our business.
In the current external environment survival
is tough enough and prosperity is even harder.
Mick Newell, Chris Read and our outstanding
team showed what could be achieved in
2010 through a combination of outstanding
teamwork, attention to detail and holding
their nerve in the face of huge competition.
I would like to think that as an off field
team we have followed that example. And
by off field team I mean all of my team, our
General Committee, our Partners and all our
Members. We must replicate that teamwork
as the future, as well as holding huge
opportunity, will be very challenging.
Your support, as ever, is incredibly important
and I hope you all feel that you continue to
play a part in the success we have enjoyed on
and off the field in recent years.
